Travel planning should lead to more time together.
Travel Signals was built around a simple idea: families should not have to spend evening after evening repeating the same holiday search, comparing the same prices and wondering whether now is the right time to book.
Less time searching. More family time worth planning for.
Sometimes that means a summer holiday abroad. Sometimes it means a weekend somewhere closer to home.
Family travel had become another job.
There are more travel websites, comparison tools and deal feeds than ever. But more choice has not removed the work. A parent can still spend hours moving between sites, checking the same dates, comparing different airports, trying to work around school holidays and wondering whether a price is genuinely good or simply looks good today.
Travel Signals was created to take over that repeated monitoring. Tell us how your family travels once. We keep watching and come back when something deserves your attention.
The aim is not to make every family travel more expensively or more often. It is to help families make better use of the time and budget they already have.
That is the gap Travel Signals is designed to fill: not another search engine, but a layer of family travel intelligence that remembers what matters to you.
A few principles guide every Travel Signal.
These are not marketing slogans. They are design rules for the product we are building.
Relevant beats endless
Families do not need another page with hundreds of offers. A Signal should earn attention by matching real preferences and constraints.
Price needs context
A price by itself tells you very little. Where data allows, we use historical context to help explain why something may be worth looking at now.
Real family life matters
School holidays, children, airports, direct flights, budget and timing are not minor filters. They often determine whether a trip works at all.
Collect less, use better
We do not need your home address to understand your travel preferences. We aim to collect only the information needed to make Signals more useful.
Members come first
Travel Signals is being built to work for its members. Opportunities are not meant to rise to the top because a travel provider pays more commission.
Not every trip needs a plane
A meaningful family break can be a week abroad, a UK weekend, a day out or a seasonal event. The whole family year matters.
We are not trying to become another travel search site.
Travel Signals sits one step before the booking decision. The system learns what matters, keeps monitoring and helps decide when something deserves a closer look.
Traditional travel search
The Travel Signals model
Not every family trip needs a passport.
Family time can be one weekend away and the UK has far more to offer than most families have time to discover.
Travel Signals is about the whole family year.
Not every household has the budget, time or desire for multiple expensive overseas holidays. That should not exclude them from the idea of family travel.
Short breaks that fit around work, school and realistic family budgets.
Places worth considering during weekends, half-term and seasonal events.
Build trips around the windows when the whole family can actually go together.
For families who want less searching and better-timed choices.
Travel Signals is particularly useful when travel decisions involve more than simply choosing the cheapest result on a page.
Families tied to school holidays
When dates are not flexible, timing and historical price context become much more important.
Families comparing multiple airports
When Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham or London alternatives can materially change the total cost or convenience.
Families planning more than one trip
Summer, half-term, Christmas, a UK break and another holiday should not require starting from zero each time.
Families who hate constant checking
People who would rather receive a useful Signal than spend another evening refreshing travel sites.
Families with a real budget
Whether the budget is ยฃ200 for a weekend or several thousand for a main holiday, relevance matters more than volume.
Families who want to try before paying
The Free plan gives a real personalised Travel Signal. Paid membership is there when you want the system to monitor more.
Clear recommendations need clear incentives.
Travel Signals is designed as a member-funded service. The aim is simple: the reason something becomes a Signal should be that it fits the user and the data, not because a travel provider paid to move it up the list.
From one Signal to a complete Family Travel Year.
The core already starts with a Travel Profile, monitoring and personalised Signals. The wider vision is to make that relationship useful across more of the year without turning Travel Signals into another noisy travel feed.
Personal Travel Signals
Real profile-based monitoring, email delivery, multiple travel windows and historical price context where available.
Travel Year + UK 365
School-holiday planning, UK weekends, attractions and a clearer 12-month view of family travel.
Concierge monthly family brief
A small number of recommendations worth attention each month personalised rather than a generic list of things to do.
Faster time-sensitive Signals
Channels such as WhatsApp for genuinely time-sensitive or last-minute opportunities, plus richer preference filters as the service grows.
I did not want to build another website that simply sends people more travel deals.
The original idea changed as I worked on it. The more I looked at the travel market, the less interested I became in competing for small commissions or filling inboxes with offers that happened to pay the best referral fee.
I wanted the relationship to be the other way around: the family is the customer, so the system should work for the family.
That means learning what matters to you, remembering it, watching the market and trying to surface fewer things but better ones. It also means recognising that family travel is not only the big holiday abroad. A weekend in England, a day out during half-term or a well-timed Christmas break can matter just as much.
If Travel Signals works, the result should be simple: less time spent searching and more confidence about the moments worth planning together.
